How to draw Duck Tales

Today I'm going to share one of Disney's afternoon animation . I’ve seen it mostly in “Disney hours”, one of my favorite animation show . DuckTales is an American animated television series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. Based on Carl Barks'Uncle Scrooge comic book series, it premiered on September 18, 1987 and ended on November 28, 1990 with a total of four seasons and 101 episodes in 100 shows.[1] An animated theatrical spin-off film based on the series, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, was released widely in the United States on August 3, 1990. The voice cast from the series played their roles in the film also.

The viewer follows the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his three grandnephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Important secondary characters, that often take part in the adventures, include Donald Duck, Scrooge's pilot Launchpad McQuackand butler Duckworth, the inventor Gyro Gearloose, and the nanny Mrs. Beakley and her granddaughter Webby. The most notable antagonists in the series are the Beagle Boys, the witch Magica De Spell, and the industrialist Flintheart Glomgold. In a typical story, the villains are after McDuck's fortune or his Number One Dime; another common theme is a race after some sort of treasure. Although some stories are original or based on Barks' comic book series, others arepastiches on classical stories or legends, including characters based on either fictional or historical persons. The series is known for its many references to popular culture, whether it be Shakespeare, Jack the Ripper, Greek mythology, James Bond or Sherlock Holmes - to mention a few.

The Cookie Carnival (1935)

today I’m going to share the earlier Silly Symphony Disney The Cookie Carnival (1935).Tight blue pencil art is attributed to Tom Wood and done for panel four of five panel page which ran in the February issue. 9 3/8x12" sheet of animation paper has 7.25x8.75" image area with Miss Muffin sitting on a throne made of candy canes, jelly beans and icing being crowned Queen by Gingerbread Man who is standing on a large cupcake and putting a small cupcake on her head. The story is based on a Silly Symphony cartoon which was released on May 25, 1935 directed by Ben Sharpsteen. Blank left margin edge has bit of lt. creasing as does upper right corner tip. Mickey’s Sea Monster Production Drawing by Horvath (1935)

MICKEY’S SEA MONSTER PRODUCTION DRAWING BY HORVATH FOR 1935 CARTOON WHICH WAS NEVER PRODUCED :

9.5x11 7/8" animation sheet has 4x9.5" image area in lead and colored pencil with delightful scene of Mickey wearing a cap standing on a barrel thinking about "$1000" as he holds rope tied around one head of a three headed serpent. Sheet has tiny lead pencil #91 at upper right corner along with very lt. initials in pencil which appear to be “FH”. Lt. margin aging otherwise drawing is Exc. The cartoon would have pitted Mickey, Donald and Goofy against a comic sea monster. Ferdinand Horvath was a story sketch artist at Disney from 1934 to 1937 who brought a European style to the Disney cartoons. He worked on many of the Disney shorts and did preliminary work on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Beauty and the Beast

Today I’m going to share some art of Beauty and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast is the thirtieth full-length animated feature film in the Disney canon. The thirtieth film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, the film is based on the fairy tale La Belle et la Bête by Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont and uses some ideas from the 1946 film of the same name. The film centers around a prince who is transformed into a Beast and a young woman named Belle whom he imprisons in his castle. To become a prince again, the Beast must love Belle and win her love in return, or he will remain a Beast forever.
The film's animation screenplay was written by Linda Woolverton with story written by Roger Allers, Brenda Chapman, Chris Sanders, Burny Mattinson, Kevin Harkey, Brian Pimental, Bruce Woodside, Joe Ranft, Tom Ellery, Kelly Ashbury, and Robert Lence, directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, and produced by Don Hahn. The music of the film was composed by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, both of whom had written the music and songs for Disney's The Little Mermaid.
Beauty and the Beast was released on November 13, 1991. The film was a significant commercial and critical success, earning $403 million in box office earnings throughout the world. Beauty and the Beast was also nominated for several awards, and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy (For the first time to an animated movie), with two other awards for its music. Famously, Beauty and the Beast was the first ever animated film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, and was the only animated film to hold this honor until 2009, when the Academy Awards switched from 5 Best Picture nominations to 10, and Pixar's animated film Up was nominated. Beauty and the Beast received a total of six nominations, including Best Picture, Best Original Score, Best Sound, and three nominations for its song. It ended up winning two, for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for the songs "Beauty and the Beast".

A direct-to-video midquel called Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas was released in 1997. It was followed in 1998 by another midquel, Belle's Magical World, and later by a stage production of the same name and a television spin-off series, Sing Me a Story with Belle. An IMAX special edition version of the original film was released in 2002, with a new five-minute musical sequence included. After the success of the 3D re-release of The Lion King in 2011, Disney announced the film will return to theaters for a limited time in 3-D on January 13, 2012
