MICKEY’S SEA MONSTER PRODUCTION DRAWING BY HORVATH FOR 1935 CARTOON WHICH WAS NEVER PRODUCED :

9.5x11 7/8" animation sheet has 4x9.5" image area in lead and colored pencil with delightful scene of Mickey wearing a cap standing on a barrel thinking about "$1000" as he holds rope tied around one head of a three headed serpent. Sheet has tiny lead pencil #91 at upper right corner along with very lt. initials in pencil which appear to be “FH”. Lt. margin aging otherwise drawing is Exc. The cartoon would have pitted Mickey, Donald and Goofy against a comic sea monster. Ferdinand Horvath was a story sketch artist at Disney from 1934 to 1937 who brought a European style to the Disney cartoons. He worked on many of the Disney shorts and did preliminary work on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
